- Classroom helper
- Committee member
- Reading buddy
- Field trip chaperone
We encourage you to contact your child's teacher regarding activities in which you are willing to participate.
SENIORS IN OUR SCHOOLS
We also have a 'Seniors in our Schools' volunteer program geared specifically towards community senior (50+) citizens. This effort is headed by Kathy O'Brien who can be reached at 920.492.2955 ext. 2005 or kobrien@ashwaubenonk12.org. For more information on Senior (50+) volunteer opportunities, click here.
BIG BROTHERS / BIG SISTERS AT VALLEY VIEW & PIONEER ELEMENTARIES
Valley View and Pioneer Elementary Schools both are in need of adults willing to serve as partners with students for their Big Brothers/Big Sisters On-site Programs. The big brother/sister spends about 45 minutes once a week having lunch at school with the little brother/sister, and then they do an activity together, play a game, or work on homework assignments.
The 45 minute time-frame coincides with the students' assigned lunch times for their grades, some time between 11:00-1:15. Since the big brother/ big sister pairings are strictly on-site during the school year, the only time adults meet with their little brothers or little sisters is during the weekly lunch get-togethers.
Any adults willing to share their time in this worthwhile program should call Mary at Big Brothers/Big Sisters at 498-2227 and set up an initial interview which will help facilitate a good match between the big brother/big sister and the elementary students. When calling, the adults should indicate their desire to be assigned to either Valley View or Pioneer.
Questions about the on-site programs can be addressed to the school counselors: Leanne Snell at Valley View (492-2935 Ext.3317) or Jamie Kallies at Pioneer (492-2925 Ext. 6113).
VOLUNTEER AGREEMENT FORM & BACKGROUND CHECK
All individuals who volunteer in Ashwaubenon's schools will have a background check completed and on file in the building in which they are volunteering. You must first complete a Volunteer Agreement Form (Spanish Version) and a Title IX Agreement and submit it to the Pioneer school office. Because you will be working with children, part of the agreement requires that volunteers maintain student confidentiality at all times.
