Art
Pioneer's Art Department offers a vibrant, hands-on, multicultural art program that guides students to become independent creative thinkers while developing valuable life long learning skills.
Elements of art and principles of design are explored through a variety of projects. Students are introduced to basic color theory in grade one and by 5th grade they will be working with the full color spectrum.
Beginning with the discovery of how line can be used to define a shape in first grade, identifying the difference between vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines in third grade the student applies all knowledge into a contour line drawing in 4th grade.
In addition to the basics of color and line students will explore the elements of texture, value, shape, and form. Art History is tied in through studies of different art movements, artists, and art forms.
