Physical Education
The mission of the Parkview Middle School Physical Education program is to offer a sequential transition between the elementary program where movement exploration is introduced, and the high school program where the movement experience is executed as team and lifetime sports/activities.
Supporting Goals:
- Develop basic movement skills introduced in the elementary schools and expand these skills through the middle school program.
- Provide a balanced curriculum that covers fundamental skills, recreational and sport skills, games, rhythms and dance, and individual and duel activities.
- Provide activities that contribute to educating students in the values of physical fitness and wellness and its value toward total growth.
- Emphasis is placed on learning activities that foster respect and responsibility for others.
Physical Education Standards
- The Physical Education Standards are appropriately derived from the nationally established National Association for Sport and Physical Education Content Standards
- Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
- Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities.
- Participates regularly in physical activity.
- Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
- Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings..
- Values physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expressions and/or social interaction.
