The Ashwaubenon Girls Golf Program consists of teams at the Varsity and Junior Varsity levels. Any girls from the freshman through senior classes are eligible to try out for the various teams. The program will carry approximately 20 girls for all levels. Try-outs are at the beginning of August. Golfers will have at least 3 nine-hole rounds before cuts are made. The course used by the Ashwaubenon players for tryouts is Highland Ridge in Ashwaubenon. Players need to provide their own clubs.
There will be an organizational meeting for any interested girls during the month of either May or June in the school year prior to the season. Date, time, and location of the organizational meeting will be posted throughout school and on the daily announcements. The season begins in August with the first competitions scheduled approximately one week after. The season ends at the beginning of October. During this period, no player is allowed to play in more than 14 competitions.
Our teams compete in the FRCC as well as in various non-conference invitationals. Players are expected to be present at every practice, with focus and passion for the game. The goal of each player is to reach her potential. When called upon, players must be available to play each event. Remember that high school golf is a team game with each member responsible to other members of the team. Most golf meets are played either by 5 players, with 4 scores counting, or 4 players with all scores counting.
Players are expected to obey the rules of golf as well as etiquette. Cheating, swearing, throwing clubs, inappropriate dress, and insincerity will not be tolerated.
To play competitive interscholastic golf all players need to improve their game by participating in as many golf functions as possible. There are summer tours and tournaments and a wide variety of golf courses and ranges to practice. We encourage the use of indoor practice facilities to work on the basic fundamentals of the golf swing.
